FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What is a windshield chip repair? A: When a small rock or stone flies up from the road and hits your windshield, it often makes a small fracture on the outer layer of glass. Because a windshield is composed of three layers, two pieces of glass surrounding an inner PVC plastic layer, only the outer layer is broken. If the chip is one inch or less in diameter, it can usually be repaired by injecting a strong resin to bond the glass together. If successful, only a small cosmetic scar will remain. Be aware that, due to the fragile nature of your broken windshield, the damage could spread while being repaired. Because your windshield is already broken, we are not responsible for further damage or windshield replacement cost. Windshield chip repairs are much less costly than new windshield replacement and your insurance company may pay for the repair without charging you a deductible. Our recommendation is to repair your windshield if possible. It it's not repairable, we recommend replacement with OEM glass. Here's a picture of various types of windshield rock chips we can repair for you. Q: Should I use my insurance coverage or not? A: If your insurance policy includes comprehensive coverage, you may be covered for glass damage. While it's strictly a personal decision whether or not to use your insurance to cover the auto glass repair or replacement, and we can't advise you one way or the other, consider whether you have had multiple claims previously because that may have an impact on your policy rates. Q: Will my insurance rates go up? A: This is a tricky question that depends on your particular insurance company's own rules. Talk to an agent to get a feeling of what might happen when you file a claim. We have heard stories of policy rates going up just because people inquired about damage, so it may be wise to do this anonymously. To avoid the possibility of higher rates, you could consider occasional auto glass replacement as one of your maintenance chores, like buying new tires, and pay out of your own pocket. Q: What is a deductible charge? A: Your deductible is the amount of the bill that you will be responsible for. If your deductible is $250.00, then the insurance company will take care of the expenses above that dollar figure. You only pay the deductible once per incident. If you choose repair instead of replacement, many insurance companies waive the deductible. We will inspect your windshield and tell you if it can be repaired or not. In general, a rock chip can be repaired if it is clean and fresh, no larger than one inch in diameter (no larger than a 25 cent coin), and will not obstruct the driver's view when completed. Be aware that ALL windshield chip repairs will leave a slight blemish when finished. They will NOT be invisible. Q: Does my insurance adjuster require me to get an inspection first? A: Not usually. You should call your insurance company and alert them to the damage but normally the insurance company will take your word (and the word of the glass technician) for the damage. Budget Auto Glass will assist you in working with your insurance company. Q: What else should I be aware of? A: A Word of Warning! When you call the phone number on your insurance card, you may not be speaking with your insurance company. You might be speaking to a middle-man billing agent, called a NETWORK, that owns a string of glass shops and leads you to believe that you are talking to your insurance company. Several of these operations exist and they have managed to concoct deals with the insurance companies to do their claims management work for them. The conflict of interest comes up when they try to steer you to their own shops (a highly illegal practice in most states) by trying to scare you. They might say something like this, "Oh, that shop is not on our approved list". In reality, the only shops on their "approved list" are their own. This practice of steering is illegal, deceitful and unethical behavior that is under official scrutiny and will hopefully end some day. Meanwhile, almost every state says that you have the right to pick your own shop. Insurance companies contract out the nitty gritty business of dealing with individual customers so they don't have to. This conflict of interest ends up working against you, the consumer. Your best bet is to always ask for credentials from your repair shop and cultivate a long-term relationship with those you trust. Any good company will want to keep you as a long-term customer and they know the only way to do that is to provide honest, high quality service on every job. The best way to avoid the pressure of steering by these unscrupulous NETWORK companies is to contact your insurance agent directly, or go to the glass shop you trust. If one of these companies does try to steer you, tell them that you are reporting them to the Attorney General of your state and then do it. Be sure to provide the name of the NETWORK company and the sales agent and the phone number. All consumers will benefit from your action. |

Glass Replacement Limited Warranty/Fixed Glass Installations
Fixed glass installations (those that do not operate or move, like a windshield) are warranted against water and air leakage, except that which occurs as a result of vehicle collision damage or body panel deterioration (rust), for as long as you own or lease your vehicle. Defects in materials and/or workmanship on all non-operating parts (glass) and service are covered for one year from the date of service. Glass Replacement Limited Warranty/Operating Part Installations All replaced operating parts (non-glass items) and moving parts (such as door and vent glass parts that move) are warranted for 30 days against mechanical failure. Limitations and Exclusions To the fullest extend allowed by law, Budget Auto Glass shall not be liable for (1) indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages; or (2) any delay or loss of use including, without limitation, lost revenues or lost profits. Budget Auto Glass maximum aggregate liability for any and all other damages for which liabilitiy is not disclaimed or otherwise limited hereunder shall not exceed the price paid for the goods themselves, including, but not limited to:

Release of customer information
By signing the attached invoice, you authorize your insurance carrier to release information pertaining to your vehicle and insurance policy to Auto Glass and Truck Glass Services. This information will only be used to collect monies owed to Budget Auto Glass and will never be sold or used for third-party marketing purposes. Labor Times Labor times included in attached invoice represent averages based on time studies by Mitchell Automotive (NAGS). Some technicians are more efficient than others and may be able to replace damaged glass more quickly than NAGS indicates. Customer's Responsibility To exercise your rights under this warranty, you must contact the Budget Auto Glass Customer Service Department. You must also have available your original invoice as evidence of installation. Insurance Coverage The use of some insurance policies for the payment of this auto glass service may provide additional warranty coverage beyond what is stated above.
